Buying a home in Spain as a foreigner | Costa Ibérica

Buying a property in Spain as a foreigner is simpler than it looks once you know the steps. Here are the essentials.

1. The NIE

The Foreigner Identity Number is required for any transaction. You can apply for it in Spain or at your country's consulate. We guide you through the whole process.

2. Bank account and financing

A Spanish bank account makes payments easier, and if you need a mortgage, local banks typically finance non-residents up to 60–70% of the value.

3. Deposit contract and notary

Once you've chosen the property you sign a deposit contract, and the sale is formalised before a notary. Registration at the Land Registry completes the purchase.

At Costa Ibérica we guide you every step of the way, in your language, with clear information and transparent costs.
